Ecuador Tours Explore Enchanting Ecuador

Ecuador is one of the smallest countries in South America but do not be fooled by its size as it is the richest in terms of history and nature. Ecuador is a country full of surprises that make it a must-visit destination.

Ecuador is located on the west coast of South and is an environmentally diverse country that contains part of the Amazon jungle, Andean mountains, and the renowned Galapagos Islands.

The capital of the country is Quito which, in 1978, was the first city to be declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its city centre has kept its colonial charm and is rich in religious structures such as the cathedral and the Compania de Jesus church; the perfect starting point to discover Ecuador. Due to its incredible flora and fauna, the country is a treasure trove of rare and unique wildlife that people from around the world are drawn to witness.

    Ecuador’s luring culture

Ecuador is a nature lover’s paradise, over 17% of the country is protected to make sure that its precious biodiversity is not threatened. This is especially the case in the Galapagos Islands whose endemic wildlife prompted Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution. Both land and water are teeming with animals that you won’t see anywhere else in the world.

Ecuador is also known for its historical culture and is home to one of the oldest civilisations in South America, the Las Vegas tribe. There are over 20 indigenous languages spoken in Ecuador that vary depending on the region you are in. There are up to nine different dialects of Quicha and in some regions dialects change from tribe to tribe. A fascinating fact that will be sure to intrigue the linguistically inclined travellers.

Wildlife watching in The Galapagos Islands

The unique trait of The Galapagos Islands lies in the rarity of the animals found here. Iguanas, giant tortoises, lava lizards, geckos and finches are just a few of the animals that have made this island their home.

      Meet The Huaorani

The Huaorani are an indigenous people that live in Yasuni National Park. Due to recent interference by oil companies trying to mine the land they have since changed their ways settling down in one area though they still avoid modern civilisation. A couple of other tribes such as the Tagaeri and the Taromenane have continued to live their nomadic and isolated life away from any outside disruption.

      Hike in Cajas National Park

Cajas National Park is an evergreen park that spreads out to 70,000 acres and has a multitude of hikes and walks on offer. The park is home to 768 lakes and at the highest altitude there is even a cloudforest. There is a diverse wildlife here with many llamas making the most of the grass to graze. There are also a large variety of birds such as the famous Andean condor and giant hummingbirds. The park is equally somewhat of a pilgrimage area as it is said that the Virgin Mary appeared here. A statue can be found just outside the entrance of the park to indicate this.

    Best time To visit Ecuador

    • Although this is considered the rainy season it is almost the better time to visit Ecuador. Mornings are warm with lots of sunshine enabling travellers to visit the sights without getting too hot. The odd showers may interrupt the afternoons but they are over soon before the sun returns.

    • This is considered the dry season in Ecuador and temperatures remain low and cool. It is best to avoid the coastal region during this time as it gets very overcast and travellers will not be able to make the most of the beautiful beaches.

If you are visiting Northern Sierra and the Andes region this is the best time to go. Out of these months is the rainy season and due to the high altitude of the region it might start to hail or snow at a moment’s notice.
