    Best time To visit Colombia

    • Because of the country's close proximity to the Equator, there are no dramatic weather fluctuations during the year. However, some months are rainier than others, and temperatures can vary significantly depending on the altitude.

The period from December to March is usually dry and warm, with bright sunshine and blue skies across many regions of Colombia. These months are excellent for outdoor activities like hiking in Natural Parks, walking tours and birding or wildlife adventures

Early planning is crucial for December and January due to the high volume of domestic holidaymakers and international visitors, particularly over Christmas and New Year.

There are also exciting festivals like the Barranquilla Carnival in February, and the Festival de Negros y Blancos in Pasto and Popayan during the first week of January.

    • April is the start of the rainy season in many regions of Colombia. The savannas in the Eastern region will turn into wetlands, and many sectors of the Amazon jungle will be flooded. These areas can now be explored by boat or kayak.

Although this period is mostly rainy, persistent rainfalls are very unusual, so it is still possible to explore the golden sands on the Caribbean Coast or the coffee region and Medellin. You can also visit Popayan and Mompox to see all the celebrations during Easter.

For theatre and culture lovers, every two years, from the end of March to the beginning of April, Bogotá hosts the Iberoamerican Theatre Festival, which presents exciting productions from across the globe.

    • These months bring a short dry season with warmer temperatures and less rainfall. It is excellent to visit Colombia's beautiful countryside, jungles, and beaches.

The weather in Bogota will be warmer, and the first week of August will be great to visit Medellín and see the spectacular Flower Festival.

August is the warmest and driest month in Popayán and San Agustín, making this an excellent time for hiking and visiting the archaeological site.

    • Weather conditions vary significantly during these months, and it is usually a low holiday season.

Towards the end of November, the dry season will start in some regions of Colombia. The Amazon will start its dry season, meaning it will be possible to hike deeper into the jungle.

The Eastern region will still have some rainfalls, but the flooded areas will begin to dry up. It will be an excellent time to see thousands of birds, anacondas, alligators and monkeys.
