      • Day 2 Tongariki, Rano Raraku & Anakena Full-Day Tour

In the morning, your guide will pick you up to begin your full-day tour, starting with a visit to the ruins of the Akahanga temple, notable for the red “topknots” or hats of the moai. Here, the moai remain lying face down, just as they were left when the site was abandoned during their transport.

You will then continue to the Rano Raraku volcano, the quarry where all the island’s moai were carved. More than 300 moai can be seen here in different stages of construction. During the walk up to the crater, you will be able to admire a small lagoon inside the caldera and several other moai. The excursion continues to Ahu Tongariki, the largest ceremonial platform on the island, featuring the biggest group of moai. The site was destroyed by a tsunami in 1960 and later restored.

Finally, you will arrive at Anakena Beach, renowned for its two beautiful temples (ahu). You will have time to enjoy a swim or explore the stunning surrounding landscape. Lunch will offer you the chance to taste the delicious local cuisine, based on fresh ingredients from both the sea and the land, with a strong Polynesian influence. It features fish such as tuna, lobster, and other seafood, as well as local tubers and fruits such as sweet potato and plantain.

In the afternoon, return to Hanga Roa village and overnight stay.

        Meal Plan: Breakfast & Lunch

      • Day 3 Soaring to Easter Island's Mystique

After breakfast at the hotel, your tour begins with a visit to Vinapu, followed by a journey towards Rano Kau, the second of the island’s three main volcanoes to erupt around 2.5 million years ago. Beside the crater lies the ancient ceremonial village of Orongo, home to the greatest concentration of petroglyphs on Rapa Nui. Here you will find carvings depicting the birdman Tangata Manu, the creator god Make Make, and Komari, symbols of fertility and renewal.

The experience continues at Ahu Akivi, the archaeological centre of the Roihi area and the first site ever restored on the island. This ceremonial platform is especially captivating, not only because of its position at the island’s heart, but also due to the legends surrounding its seven moai, said to represent the explorers sent by King Hotu Matu’a.

Your next stop is Puna Pau, located east of Hanga Roa, in a small crater of red scoria. This is the quarry where the pukao, the distinctive red stone topknots that crowned the moai;were carved. Along the way, you can still see the ancient trail used to transport them, with several unfinished pukao resting quietly in the landscape.

Return to your hotel in the afternoon and overnight.
