An amalgamation of experiences
Santiago is full of historical buildings that have been left over from the colonial era. It is well worth taking the time to visit these places such as the Cathedral and the Palacio de la Monedad for their stunning architecture. If there is one museum that travellers must visit while here it is the Museo Chileno de Arte Precolombino. Some of the most impressive artefacts are gathered and held within these walls, from sculptures to jewellery and paintings it is a true collection of the best art found in Chile.
For the wine enthusiasts out there, just south of Santiago you will find the Maipo Valley, home of the Cabernet Sauvignon. Also known as the “Bordeaux of South America”, the Maipo Valley produces some of the best wines in the world. The vines found here were brought from France in the 1800s by rich merchants who used to holiday there and come back home with these plants.
