Arequipa is the second largest city in Peru and is called the “White City” for its buildings made from sillar (white volcanic rock). It’s not as well known as some of the major cities, but it surely takes the heart of travellers once they discover it. Considered by many as the most beautiful city of Peru, the Unesco World Heritage–listed offers some of the best examples of Colonial architecture.

Volcanic centre of your travels

Nested at the bottom of three volcanos, Chachani, El Misti and Picchu Picchu, the stunning city of Arequipa is the perfect starting point for your adventures.

From there, you can easily go trekking or rafting the Cañón del Colca, one of the most extraordinary destinations in the country. Along the way, you will discover pre-Incan ruins, Andean villages, hot springs and a multitude of Andean wildlife.

Famous for its collection of Incan ice mummies, Museo Santuarios Andinos was created after the discovery of “Juanita”, a young girl sacrificed by the Incas 600 years ago. You’ll also find textiles, figurines and potteries.
Discover the Petroglyphs of Toro Muerto

Toro muerto is a collection of more than 5000 ancient petroglyphs that can be found in the middle of the Peruvian Coastal desert. The designs which vary from geometric motifs to humans, plants and animals are remain from Chuquibamba and Huari cultures.
