Enjoy exciting outdoor experiences
The outstanding natural parks in the Lake District are perfect to have a great time hiking, cycling, kayaking, rafting, horse riding, or skiing. Spending time just relaxing in one of the small Alpine-style towns in the area is also a great option. The delicious European-style cuisine and the luxury lodges with incredible lake views in Villa la Angostura are some of the reasons to spend a great holiday break here.
San Carlos de Bariloche, set on the Lago Nahuel Huapi shores, is a pretty town with an Alpine feel and a prosperous chocolate industry. The breathtaking route across the Chilean border starting from here is one of the more scenic routes where the Lake Crossing takes you by road and a succession of lake ferries to Puerto Varas in Chile.
The third-largest National Park in Argentina, after Nahuel Huapí and Los Glaciares, is Lanin National Park near San Martin de los Andes. This area is also great for hiking and horse riding. The town features Swiss wooden architecture as well as Bariloche, but less busy.
